DAILY REFLECTION

DON’T LIVE A COMPARATIVE LIFE

”Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them…When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him? Jesus answered, If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You follow me.” (John 21: 20-22)

It is sometimes tempting to observe other peoples’ lives and journeys, especially of our peers, and compare our own life with theirs. We also might wistfully observe the lives of celebrities, and feel somehow insufficient or less fortunate.

But today I’ll remember what Christ said to Peter, and hear Him say it to me: "What is that to you? You follow Me."
